A land of remote Tibetan valleys and the turquoise glow of Shey Phoksundo, Nepal’s most untouched highland.
Overview
Dolpa (Dolpo) is one of Nepal’s remotest districts — famous for Shey Phoksundo Lake, ancient Bon and Buddhist culture, high passes, and unspoiled Tibetan-style villages. It’s an expeditionary region for longer, self-contained treks.

Air + road routes total hundreds of km; overland routes are long and rough. Direct air to Juphal (Dunai) via Nepalgunj; otherwise multi-day jeep/bus via Surkhet/Jajarkot.
-
By Road
Road to remote heads is largely off-road and bumpy — 2–3 days plus jeep transfers recommended. Vehicle: high-clearance 4×4. -
