About Surkhet
Surkhet lies in Bheri zone at Mid- Western Development region which is 600 kilometers from the west of capital Kathmandu. It has the area of 2, 451 km square Before it is used to be in district of Dailekh. This district is inner Terai valley of Nepal which has moderate climate. The temperature at the winter drops to 5-degree Celcius whereas in the summer goes up to 38-degree Celsius. During the rainy season brings sufficient rainfall in the sector of irrigation. Majority of people migrate from remote district to Surkhet. A maximum number of people are Bhramin and Chettri and there are minorities which are Newar, Magar, Tharu, Sunaar, most of them are Hindus and other are Buddhists, Christians, and Muslims. The total number of populatin according to 2011 is 350,804. Surkhet district is tourist attracted district which are in the list of National Heritage sites of Nepal. Bheri river is well known as a destination for rafting and paragliding is just started in Surkhet.
